I just cannot resist the obligtatory “In Soviet Russia, Lightbulb Lights YOU!

Okay, now that is over…

I found this image on a website called English Russia.  The lamp appears to be some sort of ornamental neon arc, but I really have no idea.  It’s more the idea that Stalin is forever encased in a glass envelope as a filament of some sort!

  1. It IS a neon (gas discharge) lamp with a built-in ballast resistor. Probably it is 220V. This lamp was used in some Soviet night-lights. I have very similar lamp resembling a candle.
