When I was a kid, my mom and dad put up these rolling window coverings – they reminded me a lot of a roll drop system in a theatre. When you pulled them down, they covered the window, making the room darker. A lighting fixture called “Store” by Marc Venot works exactly the opposite – it’s like a window covering in the up position to start, and when you want more light, you pull down on the shade-looking piece to increase the amount of light emanating from the fixture.
An interesting concept – it reminds me a lot of the Ventana from Pablo Designs.
