The Nighttime Blur of Flying

I recently flew from Durango, CO to Denver on a prop plane  through the mountains right during the last 90 minutes of daylight that day – I remember remarking that Denver looked like “a christmas light version of Tron.”  One of my favorite things about flying at night is seeing the beam spread from lighting in parking lots and in big spaces – like little flashlight beams shining on the ground.  I love it.

Jason over at kottke.org posted this video by Ettubrute on Flickr.  It’s a video of the city lights – the lighting on the ground – on a flight from somewhere in the Midwest to San Francisco.  The whole of the flight was apparently from Amsterdam to San Francisco, but that’s immaterial, I suppose.

Beautiful.
