Have you ever heard the rumor about Van Halen’s tech rider, and how there’s a line item vetoeing brown M&M’s?
Well, it’s true, and The Smoking Gun has obtained a copy of the rider.
If you think about it, it’s actually a pretty genius device to make sure that all of the items in the rider are there – lighting requirements, power requirements, stage weight requirements, security, etc. If the band and crew got to the venue and found the dreaded brown M&M’s, it could be assumed that the promoter took it upon themselves to perhaps forget or ignore some other important aspect of the rider…
…like the band’s tube of KY jelly.
