The LED company that just sold a ton of LED fixtures to the Pentagon won a silver in the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA)’s EcoDesign contest this year. Cree seems to be on a roll! After that sale of over 4200 fixtures at around $380 a pop to the Pentagon, it seems they’re doing quite well.
The source that scored a silver – the LR6 LED Recessed Downlight – has around 50% less energy usage than a compact fluorescent and 85% less than an incandescent. At a whopping 12W, it’s a pretty great package. If I had $380, I’d buy one.
Again, those pesky research costs…
Thanks, Architectural Lighting Online!
Wow, where can I get this cool lamp?
