I have to admit, this has been one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. Â I’ve been talking to a lot of people in the business who are readying for the PLASA show in London (which I unfortunately won’t be able to make this year, alas), and for myriad shows across the world. Â This is always the busiest time of year for everyone I know – now, and the entire month of October for corporate work.
What are you all doing? Â Leave a comment below, let me know what you’re doing this season! Â Who knows, maybe I’ll send you a free JimOnLight.com t-shirt!
Starting my own company, finally! I’ve gotten tired of waiting for people to create opportunities for me, so I’m creating my own 🙂
Hi, I am in college, working on all the shows for this semester, lighting design for our first mainstage show Our Town, then stage managing the second show And Then There Were None. After that trying to find a job somewhere! Enjoy the site!
Lately, I’ve been getting ready to wrap up a non-lighting-related summer job, planning an epic trip that I’m super excited for, and preparing for my freshman year of college as a BFA Lighting Design & Technology major. Busy, but super fun!
Hi there Jim, I work for a live events and corporate company in Liverpool UK called Mills media. We are busy PAT testing right now……lol 304 items done 1453 to go….I am off to PLASA this year and might go to the Avolites party this year.
Regards,
William Syme
Well Jim, I am still job hunting, though I have a promising lead at Sound Investments AV in Chicago, they seem to do mostly corporate events which means if hired, I too will be feeling that busy pressure this fall. Other than that, just rockin’ it in the midwest.
write you slacker! 😉
Because I’m so excited to share the news, I’ll tell the whole internet! I GOT A JOB THIS WEEK! Like, one with a regular paycheck and everything! I’m now a student electrician in the University Of Maryland’s electrics shop! The people are awesome and the space is GORGEOUS! Plus, they just switched over the EOS line of consoles, which I’m really comfortable with. All in all, getting this job is currently the best thing ever. Especially because I’ll be able to stop hitting my parents up for cash.
Woo!
Good luck with your work, everyone!
Hey Jim,
Almost finished with our season up at the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company in Weston, VT. 7 shows in 3 months. I think we did alright. Also, ending the season with Death of a Salesman starring Christopher Lloyd. Petty great way to end the summer!!
Good luck with all your work.
Best Wishes
CB
